Daftar Isi:
- This research is motivated by the existence of a lesbian community in Malang City where these communities get different perceptions from every level of society, which in turn makes these lesbians show more themselves through symbolic communication especially non-verbal. So this study aims to find out how to use symbolic communication between lesbians among students in Malang City. This research is a type of qualitative research and uses ethnographic methods of communication. The results of the study are lesbians using or showing non-verbal symbolic communication through how to dress, gaze, gesture and the use of symbols when communicating. Where these four elements become the most striking things in lesbians. For the butchy (lesbian male character) they always dress or look like men, not only that but they have gestures like a man like one example is the way he walks and his eyes on other women imply attraction rather than admiration like heterosexual women. Whereas for femme (lesbian with female character) they look and have gestures like ordinary heterosexual women but usually look at interest in other women who have tomboyish appearance and usually they use rainbow icons on their social media.
