- Environmental news in Indonesia is an interesting issue to be discussed at this time. The problems that researchers have found to the development of environmental journalism in Indonesia, this research discusses about environmental journalism on the news portal Detik.com and Malang-post.com. Researchers try to compare between the two media with the aim to determine whether there is news in the media about the damage to the environment, whether reporting is in accordance with aspects of environmental journalism, and what topics are often reported on both the portal. Environmental journalism is a journalistic manner that puts environmental issues in favor of environmental sustainability, purpose the news writing is oriented to the preservation of the environment. It can be passed on to the next generation in the same conditions with the result that a beautiful environment can be created, people live properly and prosperously. The news presented prioritizes the issue of environmental sustainability. The method used is quantitative approach with descriptive and using content analysis research techniques. The object of this study is reporting the development of Java Park 3 on Detik.com news portal and Malang-post.com. In this case, the researchers observe and document all the news contained in both the news portal by appointing two persons to serve as coders in order to facilitate research. The results of this study indicate that on the Detik.com news portal there are only 1 (one) of the 13 news items that comply all aspects of environmental journalism, while on the Malang-post.com news portal there are 7 news items that comply some aspects of environmental journalism. On both news portals only Detik.com reports on appropriate environmental journalism. It can be concluded that the role of the media here is still not preaching in accordance with the aspects of environmental journalism, even though media is an important role as a change of mindset for the community to be more aware of environmental sustainability.
