  • Twitter is one of the examples of social media and become a part of social networking site that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. Twitter becomes a part of social media used by people in their daily communication. This study focuses on code-mixing use by Thai students of University of Muhammadiyah Malang to update status on Twitter with two purposes: (1) to identify the types of code-mixing are used by Thai students of University of Muhammadiyah Malang to update status on Twitter, (2) to know type of code mixing most frequently used by Thai students of University of Muhammadiyah Malang to update status on Twitter. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative method. The research instrument of this research is the writer hisself. The object of the Thai study was code-mixing used by users to update status on Twitter. The users were selected as the objects of the Thai study because they often used code-mixing to update status. To collect the data, the researcher was documentation. The data were the update status of users. The finding revealed that there are three types of code-mixing found in status update on Twitter by Thai students of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. There are: (1) insertion pattern, (2) alternation pattern, and (3) congruent lexicalization. Meanwhile, the types of code-mixing that frequently used by Thai students of University of Muhammadiyah Malang to status update on Twitter are (1) alternation pattern, (2) congruent lexicalization.
