- As a form of existence of punk subculture in United States, Green Day as a band or musical group with punk ideology tried to voice their opposition to President George W. Bush. The resistence is motivated by anti-terrorism policies implemented by President George W. Bush after the 9/11 tragedy, which uses mass media as a propaganda tool, giving rise to islamophobia situation and continued with the United States invasion of Afghanistan and iraq, which then causes instability social politics life in United States. This research examine the form of the existence of punk subculture in the United States in voicing their opposition to Presiden George W. Bush after the 9/11 tragedy by using two theoritical framework of the theory of new social movement and the theory of collective behavior. This research use explanative methode with qualitative data that sourced by library research. As a results that Green Day as the punk subculture in the United States has to prove its existence in voicing strong opposition to President George W. Bush among others through song American Idiot as the messengers resistance and concerts to educate their fans and also their influence in shaping public opinion in the United States.
