- The use of land must be adapted to the circumstances and the purpose of its rights. In fact there are still potentially indications of abandoned land. This research takes the formulation of the problem of land neglect indicator in poor district housing, how the role of national land agency in conducting surveillance of land in neglect indoors housing, and what are the obstacles faced by national land agency in carrying out the supervision role of abandoned land indicated. This research usues sociological juridical approach method, primary data source from legislation, government regulation, technical regulation, document, journal, book, with problem formulation discussed and its data collection technique in the form of interview with direct source at the research site in the land agency of Malang Regency as the primary data collection site. The data of the research are analyzed descriptively-qualitative. Based on the results of research with the source of the role of oversight of land indicated abandoned in the residental area by conducting direct monitoring as well as reports from the community and other agencies. In conclusion, the indicator starts from three year after the issuance of the certificate, the results of monitoring of the national land agency and reports from other agencies and the community. Suggestions, the need for a clear work unit structure.
