- The purposes of the study were (1) to understand the teaching used by teacher for teaching English in second grade SD Muhammadiyah 03 Assalam Malang, (2) to find out how teacher applied teaching strategies in classroom activity, (3) to know way the teacher solved the problems. The research design of this study was descriptive qualitative. The subject was the teacher who taught at SD Muhammadiyah 03 Assalam. In collecting the data, the researcher used two techniques ; observation and interview, two instruments ; field notes of observation and sheet of interview. The data was analyzed descriptively. Based on the reseacrh finding, it was found that the teacher used total physical response, and authentic in teaching strategies for second grade. The researcher also found the problems when teaching learning activity. The problems were labor educators were not from English graduates and lack of knowledges. But the teacher in SD Muhammadiyah 03 could solve the problems.
