  • Conversion of forest to agricultural land causes a decrease in the quality of land which has an impact on changes in physical and chemical properties of the soil such as organic matter content inside. Mesofauna and macrofauna play an important role in maintaining soil fertility. Mesofauna and soil macrofauna are part of soil biodiversity. They are able to control the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. Mesofauna and soil macrofauna is one indicator of soil quality. Determination of soil quality bioindicators is needed to know a change in the soil system due to a different function change. The diversity of plant vegetation on a land provides different environmental conditions, so that it affects the difference in population and composition of mesofauna and macrofauna inside. The aim of the study was to know the diversity and relationship of physical chemical factors to the diversity of mesofauna and soil macrofauna. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive. Simple random sampling was used in this sampling technique. The data analysis in this study used regresion test. The results showed that there was a relationship between environmental factors (soil pH, soil temperature, and soil moisture) on the diversity of mesofauna and soil macrofauna in teak forests and land conversion.
