- Providing synthetic pesticides on the soil continuously can have a negative impact, one of the negative impacts caused is a decrease in natural nutrients, so that the soil is difficult to regenerate because it is acidic and causes a decrease in biodiversity, broad spectrum pesticides can kill target pests, parasitoid, predators, hyperparasites and non-target creatures such as pollinating insect, worms and decomposer insects cause a decrease in soil quality. The decomposition process in the soil will not be able to run faster if not supported by the activities of soil surface insects, so that insects have an important role for ecosystem sustainability, both directly and indirectly. The study is aims to identify soil insect on apple plantation and Cangar forest, these locations selected based on the management system of two different locations. In addition, this study aims to determine the relationship of soil insect diversity with physical factors (temperature, pH, and humidity) and chemical factors (C-organic). the sampling technique used in this study is simple random sampling technique. the researcher taken 3 stations in each location with a distance between stations 100m. Each station consist of 3 sampling points which are carried out 3 times and the sampling of soil insects on 9 plots at each station. The data collection conducted by means of observation method. Data analysis techniques in this study by calculating the diversity index, important value index and evenness index by using SPSS analysis (correlation and regression analysis). The research result on soil insects found as many as 11 families that consist of 9 ordo. The highest value of soil insect diversity at station 1 in the forest is 2.04 and the lowest is at station 3 in the plantation area which is 0.74. Based on the results of the correlation analysis using SPSS parameters that have a correlation with the diversity of soil insects in the forest and plantation areas are Temperature, pH and humidity. Whereas C-organic does not have a correlation with insect diversity at both research sites.
