  • Routing of goods shipment from warehouse to various locations of customers is one of the important decision in distribution management. The route that will be taken by the vehicle to deliver goods will affect transportation costs, therefore distribution routing needs to be concerned. In this case, the factory does not consider in distribution routing, thus it cause uncontrolled mileage and uncontrolled traveling time of vehicle. These problems affect increase of transportation cost, therefore searching for alternative route is necessary in order to get more efficient distribution process. We used Tabu Search Algorithm as a method to minimize mileage of vehicle by searching alternative routes as solutions. Tabu Search Algorithm as one of metaheuristic methods could search the routes effectively, it searched local solution by neighbourhood moves. Tabu Search could search the solutions responsively, it shifted the current solution if it found new better solution. This method searched for the new solutions without visiting back the past solutions, therefore it could search efficiently. This study resulted new alternative distribution routes as solutions for the problems above, the distribution routes was for singosari areas. We compared it with existing distribution route which was used by the factory. After comparing we found that suggested distribution route was better than existing distribution route, it could save 12,06 % of transportation cost.
