- Steel customary law is a kind of punishment given to every people that contravene of customary law by the doer is paraded around the village as a tradition.There are two statement of problem here, those are; how to solve the criminal case by using steel customary law method and what are the implications toward positive law of steel customary law in settlement of criminal case. This study is using sociological juridical approximation, primary data source is obtained in the field, while secondary and tertiary are obtained from literature study. Data collection techniques are observation, interview and literature study. Data analysis is using qualitative analysis method. Grounded on the result of data analysis, the researcher found that the Steel customary law was hereditary and unwritten heritage. And in the complexity of society which on average has a gruff character, steel customary law comes to be an alternative way to solve the problem that appear in society. In Donggo tribe karamabura village, steel customary law is still believed and maintained by the society as a social control tool that can prevent the occurrence of crime. Moral doubt is bearing shame on the face in the wider society is crueler than being imprisoned for many years. Adoption of Steel customary law has great implication toward positive law. For instance, a) demulcent the duties of local police, b) reducing the accumulation of cases in court, c) become one of the legal models for the expansion of national law. In a nutshell, steel customary law is still applied and maintained as a social control tools and have implications for national law. For the suggestions are needed legal product for the strengthening of steel customary law, and coordination of various parties to conserve, the last is to maintain thesteel customary law.
