- This research aimed at describing the students’ reasoning ability and mathematical communication ability on the implementation of One Stay Three Stray (OSTS) learning model with Open-Ended approach using Independent Learning Activity Unit (UKBM). The kind of research used was descriptive by using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The objects of this research were the students’ reasoning ability and mathematical communication ability in solving the open-ended problems through the One Stay Three Stray (OSTS) learning model using Independent Learning Activity Unit (UKBM). The subjects of this research were the students of the 8th-H class, of which students were 28 students. The data collection was conducted by using observation and test techniques. The data analysis techniques of this research were the analysis of quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative analysis of this research was conducted by using the percentage calculation that was classified into 5 categories namely very good, good, fairly good, poorly good, and not good. While the analysis of qualitative data was conducted by describing the students’ learning outcomes based on the indicators of students’ reasoning ability and mathematical communication ability. The research results showed that the reasoning ability and mathematical communication ability on the One Stay Three Stray (OSTS) model with Open-Ended approach using the Independent Learning Activity Unit (UKBM) could be categorized as good.
