- Sepanjang Market is located in Sidoarjo Regency with heavy activity load in certain hours wich results in the parking issue. The efficiency of parking space is achieved whe the parking facility provision is in accordance to the existing demand. This study aims at analyzing the characteristics and need parking space. Due to the car parking area is located at the roadsides, there is a need to make a survey on the traffic and to review the performance of road section. The data collection was by parking inventory and parking patrol surveys. The observation was conducted during operational hour and rush hour of the market. The analysis result of parking characteristics showed that the highest volume during 13 active hours for cars is632 vehicles/day and for motor cycle is 1207 vehicles/day. The highest accumulation for car is 178 vehicle/15 minutes, and motor cycle is 276 vehicles /15 minutes.the highest average parking rate for car is 117,43 minutes, and motor cycles is 107,76 minutes. The highest index for car parking is 126,89% and for motor cycle is 122,45%. The highest turnover for car parking is 0,60 vehicle/SRP/hour, and for motor cycle is 0,70 vehicle/SRP/hour. The demand for car parking space is 95 SRP which means there is an additional need o 14 SRP. The demand for motorcycle space is 145 SRP, which means there is an additional need of 13 SRP. The traffic during the market rush hour showed its highest rate it onsundays with an average of 1118,5 smp/hour and its saturation degree reaches 0,79.
