- The vast development of technology in construction is marked by new innovations in tools, materials, and methods. One of the new innovations in methods is the formwork of floor plate using the steel plate system to accelerate and to ease the construction of floor plate on a high-rise building. This study aimed to compare the construction cost and time between the Steel Plate system and the Conventional system. It was conducted on the construction of the building of Muhammadiyah Vocational High School 1 Kepanjen, Malang Regency. The data were collected through field observation, interview, and documentation. The analysis results showed that there were differences between the two systems. The formwork cost for the Conventional system was IDR 3.209.674.159,14,- with time estimation of 108 days. Meanwhile, the formwork cost for the Steel Plate system was IDR 4.017.614.375,00- with time estimation of 65 days. The differences existed due to the different use of materials and tools and the labours' skills. As a suggestion, it is important to consider the efficiency and effectiveness of the construction method.
