  • Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) is a security method that can detect activities that are considered suspicious, monitor network traffic and make early prevention of threats from outside networks that can damage or steal data on the internal network. IPS is a combination of blocking capabilities from the firewall and the depth of inspection of data packages from the Intrusion Detection System. By using this method we can improve the network security system in the D3 - Electronics laboratory. In this study there are rules configuration of suricata and iptables which are used to detect and prevent the incoming access by attackers through telnet, ftp and ssh connections. The results of this study are that rules of the suricata system combined with IPTables rules are able to detect and reject incoming access that has been carried out by the attacker via telnet, ftp, and ssh connections.
