  • In the family, women who have status as a wife and a mother have an important role. Not only plays a role in the domestic sector which is taking care of the household, but now women also play a role in seeking economic income for the family. This phenomenon can be found in women's activities in East Lombok, precisely in the village of Loyok, Sikur, East Lombok Regency. The existence of the bamboo woven handicraft industry in Loyok Village has been one of the livelihoods of the community since 1970 which was carried out by the majority of women. This research aims to determine the role of women in improving family welfare based on creative economy, the driving factors and inhibiting factors for the role of women in improving family welfare based on creative economy in Loyok Village, Sikur District, East Lombok Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive with purposive technique. The data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis conducted is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Data validity techniques using triangulation. Based on research results of this research it was found that the role of women in improving family welfare in Loyok Village is as a wife, who first serves the needs of the husband, also cleans the house before leaving to work bamboo weaving. Then as a mother is caring and preparing for all the needs of her children. In addition, the role of women as wives in improving family welfare is reflected in the weaving of bamboo woven crafts. The activities of women craftsmen to participate in the work were driven by several factors including the support factor of their husbands and families to work, the encouragement of economic demands due to the increasing needs that were not matched by income from their husbands, the employment opportunity factor is based on hereditary expertise from parents which is then used as a livelihood, and take advantage of free time to complete household activities. However, in his daily life as a craftsman, there are inhibiting factors experienced by women in improving family welfare is orders that are not routinely resulting in income becomes erratic. Then having difficulty caring for children while working, requires women craftsmen to take their children while working.
