- This study focuses on the barriers to interpersonal communication between immigrant Muslim community and native Balinese people in East Loloan. The purpose is to examine the barriers to interpersonal communication. This study applied a Qualitative Method with descriptive design using a study case approach. The emphasis of the study covers cultural differences, environment distraction, applied media, different language, speaking speed, and semantic disorder. The data were analyzed using Miles, Haberman, and Saldana models. The results of the study showed that the subject faces barriers to interpersonal communication, such as not delivered message, miscommunication, and hearing impairment. Moreover, the subject encounters inconvenience in emotion, uncomfortable, annoyed, panic, stress, and hesitated. These barriers occurred due to different perception, norm violations, different culture, less supportive place, natural phenomena, distance, phone signal, local language use, dialect differences, intonation, speed in speaking, delayed in speaking, double meaning in word, errors in using word, and bypassing disorder.
