- The United States and Mexico have established bilateral relations in the fields of economics, education, security, drug dealing, migration and trade. Nonetheless, the fact is that the US-Mexico has border issues, where the border area is the main point of entry illegal immigrants and also the drug trade that comes through Mexico. So for handling with this problem there have been many efforts by the US government. But, various kinds of policies implemented have not been able to overcome the problems at the US-Mexico border. Therefore in the Trump era and Bush made a policy that focused on border security. Bush realized the wall barrier on the US-Mexico border, while Trump issued a zero tolerance policy and also built a solid barrier. The purpose of this research is to explain the political orientation of the United States border on Mexico in the Trump and Bush era related to the problem of illegal immigrants and drug trafficking. The results of this study, the authors believe that the US in the Trump and Bush era applied its foreign policy based on realist characters. This is seen through the US border security policy which shows three aspects that is state, survival and self-help.
