  • Transnational crimes have become one of non-traditional threats and has influenced the associated states to create policies on drugs to overcome the threats. Under Joko Widodo (Jokowi)’s administration, Indonesia acknowledge the threat of narcotics as one of the most serious emergency threats and in need of securitization policy in eforts on war on drugs The concepts used in this research are securitization and counter-narcotics in order to dig Indonesian government’s efforts in securitizations on illegal drugs through various policies taken. This research uses explanative method, in which the analysis lies on government’s securitizations policy on war on drugs. Through securitizations, Jokowi’s administration export policies to counter illegal drugs such as cooperating with the Ministry of Transportation and execute the smugglers, modify the cannabis area into legal plants cultivation and international cooperation to increase the arrest of international smugglers and increasing national security from drugs. However, it has not completely vanishing the smugglers and addicts inside the state. Thus, the government still needs to increase the corporation on war on drugs in order to achieve drug-free Indonesia.
