  • Every parent wants their children to grow up healthy and normal, since the child is in the womb. Especially after his parents heard the diagnosis of their children with special needs. Various problems experienced by parents, particularly the problem of acceptance both from family and neighborhood. Parents also tried how to make their children acceptable to both their families and the surrounding environment, the process of acceptance experienced by the parents showed various reactions. The purpose of this research are to look at parents' acceptance of children with special needs, opinions and attitudes of parents to handle their children. This research uses descriptive qualitative. The method for determining subjects is purposive, the data collection techniques in the form of observation and interviews. The concept used in this research is self-acceptance. According to Ben Walgito self-acceptance is an attitude that shows satisfaction in quality and potential as well as recognition of the limitations that they have. Based on the results of this research on parents' acceptance of children with special needs, each subject who saw his child's condition at first showed anxious feelings, accepted the condition of his child not expecting, miserable. But in the end all the subject's parents accept it and understand their child's condition. While the attitude of parents towards children with special needs is to teach socializing, provide therapy, develop self-development behavior and independent behavior, patience in educating, and provide supervision of their children.
