- Malang Election (Pilkada) is democracy party which means significant role for Malang society. Pilkada Kota Malang 2018 becomes highlight in mass media and it will determine fate of malang for five years ahead. One of mass media that provides information related to political issue such as pilkada is newspaper. Researcher chooses Malang Post because it is one of the largest regional media in Malang. As information media channels, are often not objective and tend to take a particular side. This case is interested to be analyzed further through research. The research problem is how much frequency of objectivity in reporting Malang election in harian pagi Malang Post. The purpose of this research is to find out objectivity in reporting Pilkada Kota Malang 2018 in printed media Malang Post period December 2, 2017 to January 6, 2018. This research method used is content analysis and descriptive quantitative as the type, using 24 news’ samples. This content analysis is used based on concept of objectivity by J. Westersthal which is developed further by researcher, it covers category of Facts, News’ Accuracy, News’ Completness, Relevancy, Type of Coverage and News’ Direction. The result indicates that Malang Post in reporting news related to Pilkada Kota Malang 2018 from six categories have researched, there were five categories which already keep the news’ objectivity such as Facts from 24 news that was researched (16,67%) showing type of sociological facts, as much as 20 news of news’ accuracy (13,89%) accurate, there were 24 from news completeness (16,67%) which completed-display of 5W + 1H, as much as 24 news of news’ relevance category (16.67%) relevant, and news direction category as much as 14 news, (9.73%) contains an impartial element of one candidate or neutral. News that has not fulfilled the objectivity is in the coverage category as much as 17 news (11,81%) tend to use one-sided coverage type. Thus, itt can be concluded that Malang post period December 2, 2017 to January 6, 2018 was objective enough in reporting news of Pilkada Kota Malang 2018.
