- Background: Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a common painful disorder of the heel and plantar surface of the foot characterized by inflammation, fibrosis or structural deterioration of the plantar fascia of the foot. Self Stretching or Active Stretching is a method of exercise performed by the patient independently to be informed in advance of training by a Physiotherapist. Myofascial Release is a collection of techniques used for the purpose of relieving soft tissue from an abnormal hold of a tight fascia. Method: This study uses a quasy-experimental design that involves 20 respondents selected using by purposive sampling. The samples are devided into two groups of intervention: self stretching group (n = 10) and myofascial release (n = 10). Data obtained in the analysis using independent t-test. Result: The result of independent t-test data analysis between self stretching and myofascial release, obtained t value = -5,659, with a sig. (2-tailed) level pof 0,000 thus obtained values (p < 0,05), sig. (2-tailed) < significance level (α) so that the result of the independent t-test there is difference with self stretching and myofascial release decrease pain in plantar fasciitis case. Conclusion: Myofascial Release is more effective to decrease pain in plantar fasciitis case. Keywords: Plantar fasciitis pain, Self Stretching, Myofascial Release.
