- The eruption of Mt. Merapi is one of the predictable disasters. One of the disasters that happened was Mt. Kelud eruption. Result of this eruption affected to the district of Malang for the first time. Therefore, BPBD Kabupaten Malang prepares various preparations during pre-disaster that can be predicted earlier into Contingency Plan. This research uses qualitative approach with descriptive research type. Researcher uses the concept of communication model implementation in disaster mitigation to measure “how implementation of Communication Model in Mount Kelud Eruption Disaster Mitigation is used BPBD Malang Regency and how evaluation is done BPBD Malang in disaster mitigation eruption of Mount Kelud? The results of this study indicates that the communication process activities conducted BPBD Malang Regency is the government as a source that conveys the danger of erupting mountains and anticipation in volcanic eruption hazard delivered in a meeting which then village officials and volunteers as recipients convey to the community as the final destination. However, they find a disruption to the communication process takes place. Analyzing the communication process that occurs then the communication model used is Shannon and Weaver. Then from the communication model is applied in disaster mitigation activities one of them is the socialization activities conducted BPBD Malang Regency and other mitigation activities.
