- One of Public Relations activity is establishing relations with media, or commonly called by media relations. Researcher see the influence of media relations which is conducted by public relations to journalist to find information. Media relations aim to publish an agenda or news of company or organization. There are many approach factor that public relations do in media relations activity, one of them is interpersonal communication. This research intends to answer a question “Is there any influence between interpersonal communication public relations with satisfaction of journalist in obtaining information?”. Therefore, this research aims to know the influence between interpersonal communication of public relations through journaly satisfaction by study on journalist region Malang District. Theory that used in this research is social penetration theory by Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor. This theory explains commonly when communication process take place with other people, there will happen gradual process, an adaptation process between both. Man likened to red onion consists of layers thus means layer of personality. This research included in explanative type in the form of a questionnaire which distributed to 37 samples. Sampling technique uses non-probability, while the type of sampling technique is saturated sample. For data measurement from questionnaire, validity test and reliability test, and data analysis using simple linear regression test. Hypothesis test result shows simultaneously, the value of the test results shows F arithmetic of 1.092 and F table of 0.344 with a significant level of 5%. In the calculation of coefficient of determination (R2) of 17.9%. This means there is influence between interpersonal communication variables to journalist satisfaction in obtaining information. So H1 is acceptable and reject H0. Empirical model of simple linear regression test of this research is Y = 102,459 + 0,548X.
