- The evolution of the film industry in Indonesia in the past 10 years is very rapid up to areas such as in Malang. In film production, the person that take responsibility and lead the film production management is a producer. Darah Biru Arema 2 Film is a first commercial long film produced by the native of Malang. Through that phenomenon, researcher want to know whether the producer as the leader of the film production Darah Biru Arema 2 as the first commercial film in Malang knows his role as a producer of commercial film? The research type is qualitative with phenomenology approach. The focus of this research only on the role of the producer in production management. This research involves producer as research subject and research informant as supporting data. Techniques of data collection using observation, interview and documentation. This research using analysis method of phenomenology data of Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen. Based on the research, in the process of pre production, production, and post production certainly there is the role of producer that isn’t appropriate. Such as the process of employment contract, production schedule, providing post production needs, and create reports. However, this film is a commercial film oriented toward the budget oriented so that researcher understand because this film is the beginning of film industry in Malang so the role of the producer will not be as much as in other film industry city. As well as the role of management production, producer assisted by other managerial jobdesk in completing the tasks. Although the role of producer is less but in the film production management can’t be charged to a jobdesk only, producer. This film producer is trying to give the best.
