- Indeed communication can happen anywhere and anytime. Communication has a goal to be achieved from the occurrence of a communication process, namely the delivery of messages. In the Anime Kimi no Na wa film Makoto Shinkai has several ways of communication delivery of messages on both main characters. This is the background to examine the meaning of friendship that is portrayed through the anime film Kimi no Na wa by researchers. The purpose of this research is to know the meaning of friendship on the main character dalm anime movie Kimi no Nawa. This research uses qualitative approach with semiotic analysis method. The unit of analysis used is the scene in each scene based on the appearance of a sign that describes the meaning of friendship on some elements contained in the anime film. The data analysis technique uses semiotic analysis of Charles Sander Peirce which classifies the sign into three, namely: indexes, icons, and symbols. The result of the research is that friendship can be established because they are accustomed together. Emotional relationship can be established because of the habit of spending time together. The close friendship between the two friends can lead to a tendency to want what is best for each other, sympathy, empathy, honesty in attitude, and mutual understanding.
