- Movies are mass communication that provide entertainment, information, even the viewer can see various realities from the other side. With various story that can be tell, then the movies have various genre. One of genres that never faded are horror genre, which the story presents a terrible sensasion without the viewer should in the same situation as the movie. In the IT movie by Andy Muschietti who brought the clown as a supernatural figure is seen to give a lot of nuances of violence. This research aim to know duration of occurence of violent categories in IT movie. This research designed as quantitative research with using content analysis techniques. The scope of this research is horror movies, IT by Andy Muschietti which was released in 2017 with a duration of 7381 seconds and 197 scenes. The unit of analysis of this research is scene with the unit of measure is second. The technique of collection data using documentation the movie and then observing the violence that appears on the movie. Based on the result of the research, in the IT movie found violent categories that appears with a total duration of 2725 seconds of the total movie’s duration or equivalent to the percentage of 36,22%. Violent categories that appears are two, verbal and nonverbal. Verbal category have two subcategories, which are humiliate with 344 seconds (4,6%) and threaten with 31 seconds (0,4%). In the nonverbal category have five subcategories, which are the physical abuse using tools with 700 seconds (9,4%), the physical abuse without tools with 422 seconds (5,7%), harassing with 0 second because this subcategory appears with the other subcategories, bluster with 90 seconds (1,2%) and also shouting with 148 seconds (2%). In addition, several subcategories appeared simultaneously with 990 seconds (12,92%).
