  • Decomposition rate is a process of metabolically decomposition or destruction of organic material which can produce a by-product energy, simpler inorganic material. The aimed of this research is to find out the significances effect of decomposition rate of starfruit litter toward the diversity of soil fauna in the starfruit plantation. This research is a descriptive quantitative research which was conducted for 20 days using Barllease method. The results showed that there is a significant effect of starfruit litter decomposition rate toward the diversity of soil fauna with percentage of 92.5% with the diversity found from 4 classes with 7 nations, and 9 tribes. The tribes found are Formicidae, Neanuridae, Onychiuridae, Branchystomellidae, Scutigerellidae, Marchochelidae, Neobisidae, Forficulidae, and Ophisthopora with an index of soil fauna diversity found ranging from 1.20 up to 1.85. The highest index of soil fauna diversity was found on the 10th day of the research which is 1.85, while the highest average value of decomposition rate was found on the 10th day of the research with a decomposition rate of 3.25% / day. The higher rate of decomposition allows more soil fauna diversity to be found.
