  • Background : Citrus reticulata fruit peel is known can inhibit the growth of Candida albicans fungi, the compounds that responsible in antifungal activity are alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and polyphenols. Objective : This study purposed to look at the inhibition zone of the ethyl-acetate fraction of Citrus reticulata fruit peel on the growth of Candida albicans by using various concentrations. Methods : The antifungal activity test was performed using disc diffusion method. The ethyl-acetate fraction used in this study was obtained from the results of previous studies. The concentration of ethyl-acetate fraction of Citrus reticulata fruit peel used was 1600 μg/disc; 2400 μg/disc; 4000 μg/disc. Paper discs that have been dripped with test solution, negative control solution, and positive control solution were transferred to plate containing Candida albicans fungus with SDA agar media. Then incubated at 37 ° C for ± 18 hours, and visible clear zone can be measured in diameter. Result and Conclusions : The results of identification in previous study found secondary metabolites from the ethyl-acetate fraction of fruit peel of Citrus reticulata containing alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and polyphenols. And results of testing the antifungal activity showed, diameter of the inhibitory zone from three concentrations was obtained, 1600 μg/disc = 6.67 mm; 2400 μg/disc = 7.33 mm; 4000 μg/disc = 7.5 mm. These results indicate that ethyl-acetate fraction of Citrus reticulata fruit peel can inhibit growth of Candida albicans fungi that can be seen from clear zone that appears around the paper disk.
