  • Background: Keji beling is one of the plants usually utilized as traditional medicines because of containing flavonoids and potassium compounds that can be used as kidney stones medication. The existed pharmaceutical preparations are mostly in forms of herbs or capsules. Therefore, it is a need to develop a formulation in forms of standardized tablets. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of HPMC 2910 5 cps concentration of 1%, 2%, and 3% as a binder on the physical quality of keji beling leaf extract tablets and to determine the optimum concentrations of HPMC 2910 5 cps that can produce tablets that can meet the required physical quality. Metode: The extract was made by utilizing immersion maceration method using ethanol 96% as the solvent. Then, the tablet was made by using wet granulation method utilizing HPMC 2910 5 cps as the binding agent. The physical quality tests that cover the hardness, friability and disintegration time of the tablet. After that, the obtained data were statistically analyzed. Result and Conclusion: The result of the study indicated that the increase of HPMC 2910 5 cps concentrations was able to increase the hardness and disintegration time, and decrease the friability of the tablets. The statistical analysis result showed that there was significant difference in terms of the hardness and disintegration time of the tablets among the formulas. While, it was significantly difference in terms of friability in the formulas with the concentration of 2% (F3) and 3% (F4). The formula with HPMC 2910 5 cps concentration of 2% (F3) was the selected formula that met the requirements.
