  • Humans are the most important part of social life. The process of conservation efforts undertaken by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang with the community of Kucur Village is one effort to preserve the environment. The purpose of this study is to determine and assess the role of community of Kucur Village Dau Sub-District Malang District inconservationefforts of source of bamboo forest spring, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The theoretical approach used in this research is the level of community role which is divided into eight levels. The lowest level is manipulation and therapy that means the non-participatory level The top level is power delegation and community control that means the community has a majority power for decision-making and participation.The research method is descriptive qualitative approach. Qualitative approach is used to obtain in-depth data, a data that contains meaning. The subject of this research is Klampok, Kucur Village, Dau Sub-District, Malang District.The results showed that the role of Kucur Village community inconservation efforts of sourceof bamboo forest spring is participates in the bamboo planting and keep the existence of the spring with making the location of springs and bamboo forest as one of the sacred places. The characteristics of the community around the study location are native citizens aged 23-60 years with relatively diverse occupations. In addition, from the calculation of the water debit, it can be seen that the water discharge at the bamboo education forest location in Muhammadiyah Malang University is 0.00573 m3 / d or 5.73 liters / second and is classified as class V which means that the spring has sufficient discharge so that it can meet people's daily needs.
