- The success of student to excel influenced by motivation achievement. Motivation related to the purpose (goal orientation) had played a role provides power locomotion and gives direction to get there. Mastery goal orientation is a motivational orientation that is owned by individuals to acquire new knowledge, insight, skill and aims to develop their competencies. This study aims to determine contribution of mastery goal orientation to achievement motivation. Subjects in this study are students of muhammadiyah malang university who choose to memorize the holly Al Qur’an either through of the program and independent had initially agreed to a number of 98 peoples. Data collection using the scale of mastery goal orientation and achievement motivation and scale of sampling technique using snowball sampling. Methods of data analysis in this study using regression simple test. The result of the research on the hafizh student of Muhammadiyah Malang University, which includes mastery goal orientation to the achievement motivation which has the value of r2 = 0.351 and p = 0,000.
