  • Communication is an important thing in having a relationship, such as relationship of husband and wife. When the communication in a husband and wife relationship does not run well, it will arise domestic conflict. Application of transactional communication model can become a solution to domestic conflict. This research aimed to describe the application of transactional communication model between husband and wife in facing domestic conflict in Housing of New Puri Kartika Asri, Arjowinangun , Kedungkandang Malang. Theory used in this research was social penetration theory, social exchange theory and symbolic interaction theory. This research used qualitative approach with descriptive type. Newly married husband and wife couples in New Puri Kartika Asri Housing RT 04 RW 10 were 4 families who became research subject by using collecting data technique through interview and documentation. Technique of data analysis used data analysis technique from Miles and Huberman (data collection, data reduction, data serving, and drawing the conclusion). Whereas validation of data test used triangulation. The result of the research was negative prejudices from wife could arise conflict such as jealousy, suspicious to co-worker or the lack of information they got from their partners. It could be tackled with transactional communication, in which husband would give to wife until she understood. When they had not reached agreement for solution, they both would argue until they got solution. This Transactional communication model were used by husband and wife who had conflict.
