- This research is aimed to investigate leading economic sector at Sorong District from 2012 to 2016. By using PDRB data, it can be seen which economic sector is superior at those regions. Some methods which use PDRB data as superior sector determinant are Location Quotient, Shift Share method and Klassen Typology. The research result gained was based on Location Quotient, Shift Share analysis economic sector which is classified into base economic sectors at Sorong District were Mining, Digging, and Processing Industry sector. In analyzing Shift Share, those which are classified able to compete (Competitive) are procurement of electricity, gas, water, rubbish recycle and others, financial service and Insurance, also Health Service and Social Activity. Besides, Typology Klassen analysis which are classified into growth fast sector are the sector of electricity and gas procurement, Construction, Large Trade and Vehicle Reparation, Financial and Insurance Service, Real Estate, Government Administration and others, and Education Service sector.
