- This thesis deals with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono which refused to join the membership of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). Based on this, then that will be answered in this study is why President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono refused to join in the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). The purpose of this research is to know the reasons SBY refused to join the TPP membership. This research uses the method eksplanatif and the level of analysis used is reductionist. The theory used is the rational choice by Charles W Kagley and Eugene R Witikoff. Based on the theory, it was found that Indonesia refused to join the TPP due to the condition of Indonesia's economic situation was the focus of improving its readiness to face the MEA, bound and focus on China-Free Trade Agreement, RCEP negotiations involved China Korea, Indonesia's economic orientation differences with other TPP member countries, APEC as a regional place for economic cooperation in the Asia Pacific Region.
