- In structure construction, the wooden material is crucial. However, due to global warming, there is a demand for an alternative material that can replace, or at least decrease, the use of wood without lowering the structure’s quality. Ideally, the method used for constructing a building should be effective and efficient. Using the right method will benefit both the developer and the contractor. This study aimed to analyse the difference between the semi-system formwork method and the conventional formwork method in constructing Ibis Hotel Surabaya. Different from the Conventional system, the semi-system used the combination of cassava wood and 50,50,1.6 hollow steel. The calculation showed that the conventional method was 36% cheaper yet 38-days longer than the other one. In conclusion, in term of cost, the conventional method was more efficient. However, considering the future investment for another project, the semi-system method could be reliable and time-saving.
