- This study was conducted to reveal the strategies used by the principal of SMAN 1 Dompu to improve the quality of Islamic education year by year which focused on: 1) What are the strategic steps taken by the Principal to improve the quality of Islamic education at SMAN 1 Dompu? And 2) How is the implementation of the principal’s strategies to improve the quality at SMAN 1 Dompu? This study is a qualitative research with a case study. Interview, observation, and documentation were done to collect the data. The researcher collected primary and secondary data that are relevant to the theme of the study. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used was data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. This research is a qualitative research with case study design. Data collection is done by interview, observation, and documentation techniques, where the researcher collects data from various primary and secondary data relevant to the research theme. Data analysis techniques in this study through the following stages: data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that, 1) The strategic steps that have been implemented by the Principal in improving the quality of Islamic religious education in Dompu 1 Public High School are in the form of an implementation or practice. only a theory, but an implementation that really knows the problems to identify problems in the field. in order to improve the quality of education, especially Islamic education in the school. and 2) Implementation of the Principal's strategy in improving the quality of Islamic religious education; that is, by holding several activities in Dompu 1 Public High School, through these activities the Principal can improve the quality of Islamic religious education by implementing appropriate strategies and in accordance with the school.
