Daftar Isi:
  • This study empirically analyzed Indonesia's dependence on industry and the dominance of Japanese cars as a result of Japanese trade politics. In 2017 Japanese cars were able to dominate 98% of the Indonesian automotive market. This study uses explanatory research and deductive methods which observe the phenomenon by explaining two variables using the help of theory to find out the answer to the phenomenon. Based on the dependency theory, the condition of a country's dependence is due to the expansion carried out by developed countries by providing grant funds, foreign loans, foreign investment, and technical cooperation, where the phenomenon is a reflection of industrialization exploitation from developed countries. Indonesia is in dire need of foreign assistance in the areas of grant assistance, foreign loans, foreign investment and technical cooperation. Japan is the main investor of Indonesia, where Japan initiated bilateral relations with Indonesia through a peace agreement by paying all Japanese colonial crimes to Indonesia in order to provide grants, foreign loans and technical cooperation. Starting from the peace agreement, it was then continued with the ODA and IJEPA agreements. This phenomenon has caused the expansion of the Japanese automotive industry to Indonesia, so that Indonesian has a dependency on Japanese cars, and as a barrier to the realization of the Indonesian Government's program to independently develop the national car industry.
