  • Background : Pacar air flower (Impatiens balsamina L.) contains flavonoid, terpenoid, and antrakuinon substances which is known to have antibacterial activity. Objective : the aims of this research to find out compound classes that contained on n-hexane fraction Impatiens balsamina L. flower and to know antibacterial activity from n-hexane fraction Impatiens balsamina L. to Escherichia coli bacteria that’s viewed from inhibition zone. Method : this research is using disc diffusion method. Impatiens balsamina L. flower was macerated using kinetic maceration for 4 hours. Then identified components of compounds attracted by n-hexane solvent. Then did antibacterial activity with disc diffusion method with 1,25 %, 2,5 %, 5 % concentrations and incubated for 24 hours on temperature 37 oC and viewed their clear zone. Result and Conclusion : the result obtained after testing can be concluded that n-hexane fraction on Impatiens balsamina L. flower positive containing terpenoid compound with Rf = 0,3 ; 0,64 ; 0,91, flavonoid compound with Rf = 0,2 ; 0,54 ; 0,79, and antrakuinon compound with Rf = 0,3. Concluded that n-hexane extract on Impatiens balsamina L. flower has antibacterial activity to Escherichia coli bacteria was showed on the formation inhibition zone after testing of disc diffusion method with 1,25 % concentrations with the average inhibition zone as big as 6,61 mm, 2,5% concentrations with the average diameter zone as much as 9,06 mm.
