- Background : Infection still become a serious threat disease worldwide. The medical treatment of infection commonly using antibiotic. The inappropriate of using antibiotic can cause the resistance of bacteria. Increasing the resistance of bacteria will be serious problemfor global health. So that, this is an important thing to discover a new resources of natural antibiotic. Source of new antibacterial bioactive compounds can be obtained from Jatropha gossypifolia and Persea americana. Objective :This research was carried out to know inhibitory effect of combination Jatropha gossypifolia and Persea americanaextract on growth ofStaphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Method :The test of antibacterial was carried out by disk diffusion method and using chloramphenicol 30μg/disc as positive control and DMSO 10% as negative control. Result and Conclusion :The result showed there are inhibitory from combination extract Jatropha gossypifolia and extract Persea americana at Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The greater concentration of extract, the greater inhibition zone made. The largest diameter of inhibition at Staphylococcus aureus is combination consentration I EDJG : EDPA (2500 μg : 7000 μg) that was 12,58 mm, while in Escherichia coli is combination consentration I EDPA : EDPA (2500 μg : 5000 μg) that was 12,15 mm.
