  • Background : Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli is two of the microorganisms that causes infection. Some studies have shown that Anacardium occidentaleand Cinnamomum burmannii have secondary metabolites with antibacterial effect. Objective : The aim of this study is to investigate the antibacterial activity, secondary metabolites and effective inhibitory concentration of combination extracts of Anacardium occidentale stem bark and Cinnamomum burmannii bark against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Methotd : Anacardium occidentale stem barks and Cinnamomum burmannii bark is extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol. Antibacterial test using disc diffusion method which concentrations of Anacardium occidentale is 20 mg/ml, 40 mg/ml, dan 60 mg/ml. While concentrations of Cinnamomum burmannii is 5 mg/ml, 10 mg/ml, dan 15 mg/ml. The positive control was 30μg/disc chloramphenicol while the negative control was 1% DMSO and Water for Injection. Result and Conclusion : Secondary metabolites contained in the combined extract were tannins, saponins, alkaloids and polyphenols. The results also showed that the combination extract of Anacardium occidentale stem bark and Cinnamomum burmannii bark have antibacterial activity with the highest inhibitory zone diameter is 14.70 mm in Staphylococcus aureus and 9 mm in Escherichia coli.
