  • Corrosion or rusting is an event of damage or deterioration in the quality of a metal caused by a reaction to the environment. Corrosion rate calculations are carried out based on the method of heavy loss or what is called the weight loss method by conducting immersion research on specimens with media of sea water, river water and rainwater. From the observations, it appears that sea water has a high level of salt and is corrosive to metals compared to rainwater and river water. The highest corrosion rate was experienced by specimens immersed in sea water with a value of 10.7446 mpy, while the lowest corrosion rate was experienced by specimens immersed in river water with a value of 1.1328 mpy. Corrosion rates that occur in all three media tend to decrease the rate of corrosion along with increasing immersion time.
