- This study aims to describe how the principal's efforts to create a religious atmosphere in SMP Muhammadiyah 08 Batu and also aims to describe students' responses to the implementation of the principal's program to create a religious atmosphere in SMP Muhammadiyah 08 Batu. This research can be useful not only to the author but also useful for SMP Muhammadiyah 08 Batu, especially the principal and also to all Islamic educational institutions. This research uses qualitative approach with descriptive research type. Subjects in this study have 2 informants namely principal and some students in SMP Muhammadiyah 08 Batu. Data collection was done by observation, interview, and documentation. The results of the research on the principal's efforts to create a religious atmosphere are done by the principal through 4 stages. The stages of starting from forming the al-Islam development team, socializing the program, program implementation and program evaluation. forming an al-Islam development team including setting up the programs of al-Islam development along with the person in charge. Program socialization is provided to educators, learners and parents of learners. Implementation of the program is implementing a program that has been prepared during one year of learning. Program evaluation is evaluation of all programs through regular meeting every week. The response of learners to the implementation of the principal program in SMP Muhammadiyah 08 various stones. Response of learners such as learners who accept the implementation of the program, forced to follow the program and the last is to reject the existing programs in school.
