  • Long beans (Vigna sequipedalis L. Fruwirth) are one of the horticultural commodities that have high potential to be developed. Improving the quality of production can be done through the crossing of two elders who have certain desired characters. As one of the most popular horticultural commodities, long beans have very high potential to be developed. This research was conducted in January 2018 until April 2018. This research activity was conducted in the village of Tegalgondo-Karangploso. Activities in this study produced qualitative data (stem color, stem shape, leaf color, leaf shape, leaf tip shape, leaf edge shape, symmetry, leaf bone shape, flower position, crown color, petal type shape, fruit color, bji color) and quantitative (plant height, stem diameter, leaf length, leaf width, flowering age (HST) harvesting age (HST), fruit length, seed size, weight of 100 seeds, weight of fruit, fruit weight per plant, number of fruit per plant. Quantitative data were analyzed using simple RAK and F test and then tested further using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the level of 5%. Qualitative observation data were presented descriptively. Characterization of long bean plants showed diversity in qualitative parameters, namely leaf color (dark green 5GY 3⁄4, light green 5GY 4/4, dark green 7.GY 3⁄4, dark green 5GY 4/6, dark green 7.GY 3/2), shape leaf tips (Tapered (acuminatus) and pointed (acutus)), stem color (light green 5GY 4/4, light green 5GY 4/6, whitish green 5GY 5/6, green 5GY 5/4, yellowish green 5GY 6/4) flower color (light purple 5P 8/10, purple 5P 5/15, whitish 5P 7/10, light purple 5P 6/15), pod color (dark green 5GY 5/6, light green 5GY 4/4, dark green 5GY 4/6, light green 5GY 5/4), seed color (dark purple, light brown, black white, black). Whereas for quantitative parameters there is a very different diversity, namely at flowering age (HST), pod harvest age (HST), and leaf area (cm)
