  • Background: Quetiapine is first-line treatment in schizophrenia. The result of a study showing the usage of quetiapine in schizophrenia patients is effective but another study said that the usage of quetiapine has low benefits in schizophrenia patients. Objectives: This study aims to determine the pattern of quetiapine drug usage in patients with schizophrenia including type, dose, interval, frequency and route of administration in patients with schizophrenia. Methods : This study was observational with retrospective methods in patients with schizophrenia period October 1st 2017 to December 30th 2017 at Psychiatry Hospital of Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang, Malang. Resuts & Conclusions : The usages of quetiapine in outpatients: monotherapy (6 patients with 17%), 2 combination (7 patients with 20%), 3 combinations (12 patients with 34%), 4 combinations (8 patients with 23%), and 5 combinations (2 patients with 6%), while in inpatients: quetiapine 3 combinations (2 patients with 50%) and 5 combinations (2 patients with 50%). The most therapy in outpatient is 3 combination with the most used drug are quetiapine 1x400mg oral administration, clozapine 1x25 mg oral administration, dan trihexyphenidyl 2x2mg oral administration. In inpatients, there are 3 combinations and 5 combinations with quetiapine 1x300mg oral administration is the most used drug. The pattern of switch use in outpatients are 14 patients with different pattern for each patient where the most is just 2 pattern (7 patients. In inpatients, there are 2 patients who have switch pattern where each of them has different pattern.
