- Background : Infection disease is one of the most disease with high prevalencies in developing country, include Indonesia. One cause of infectious disease is Staphylococcus aureus bacteria which is a normal flora which can become a pathogen in the body. To overcome the infectious disease are used synthetic and chemical drugs that can lead to antibiotic resistance from overuse. Therefore it is necessary a natural alternative medicine from plants. Citrus reticulata is known to has activities such as antimutagenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor, anti atherosclerosis and antibacterial. Objective : This study aimed to observe the antimicrobial activities of ethanol fraction of the peel fruit Citrus reticulata toward Staphylococcus aureus bacterial growth with disk diffusion method. Method : Antibacterial activity assay using disk diffusion method. Ethanol fraction of peel fruit Citrus reticulata was processed by immersion maceration in order to separate the polar molecule which concentration 5%, 10% and 25 for Staphylococcus aureus bacterial. Result and Conclusion : The ethanol fraction of peel fruit Citrus reticulata has antibacterial activity toward Staphylococcus aureus bacterial growth with concentration 5% b/v (3.500 μg/disc) is 7,31 mm; 10% b/v (7.000 μg/disc) is 10,24 mm and 25% b/v (17.500 μg/disc) is 13,75 mm. The result rising of concentration rising the clear zone and more poten to Gram positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus).
