  • Rice is a plant that is widely cultivated by farmers in Indonesia. In the cultivation of rice plant, it cannot be separated from problems. The main pest that attacks rice plant is the brown planthopper. These pests have a large influence in decreasing production. In controlling these pests, farmers still use chemical insecticides. The use of insecticides that exceed doses, improper application and mixing with hazardous ingredients can cause the killing of natural enemies, environmental pollution, and brown planthopper to become a resistance to chemical insecticides. Therefore it needs to be done in an integrated manner, namely by using biological agents and resistant varieties of rice plants. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of biological agents and varieties of rice plants against brown planthopper. The study was conducted using Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 factors, 3 replications and obtained a combination of 12 treatments. Based on the results of the study that the treatment of Beauveria bassiana with Logawa variety was the highest treatment in the variable intensity of attack. The treatment of Metarhizium anisopliae with Mekongga variety was the highest treatment in the variable mortality of Nilaparvata lugens. The treatment of Metarhizium anisopliae with Ciherang variety was the highest treatment in dry weight variable of grain. Logawa variety is the best variety in this study based on the variable number of tillers, number of panicles.
