  • Background: Hypertension is a disorder of blood vessels resulting blood pressure in the arteries to increase and the heart must work harder to meet these needs. Hypertension can be overcome by pharmacological or non-pharmacological means, as well as yoga exercises hatha. The mechanism ofyoga exercise hatha in reducing blood pressure caused by decreased peripheral resistance, with regular exercise can relax blood vessels so that blood vessels experiencing widening and relaxation. This study aimed to determine the effect of hatha yoga exercises on reduction systolic blood pressure of elderly with a history hypertension in Junrejo Village, Batu City. Method : This study used adesign pre experimental with one group pretest and postest design involving 30 respondents using purposive sampling and data obtained analyzed using paired t-test. Results and Discussion: The results of the paired t-test showed a significance value on the difference between pretest and posttest systolic blood pressure was 0.190 (p> 0.05). The conclusion of the paired t test results showed that H0 accepted and H1 rejected. Conclusion: Based on the test results Paired t-test showed (p> 0.05) no effect of yoga exercises Hatha on decreasing blood pressure in elderly people with a history of hypertension in Junrejo Village, Batu City. Identification of a decrease in systolic blood pressure in the elderly, although not significant.
