  • Background: Dementia is a degenerative disease that often attacks on people aged over 60 years, where the loss of intellectual abilities that prevents social relationships and function in everyday life. One of the efforts to prevent dementia with intake of vitamin D obtained from sunlight and food. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between the adequacy of vitamin D intake with the incidence of dementia in the elderly in Telogosuryo Rw 02, Lowokwaru Malang. Method: This study uses an observational research with cross sectional approach. Population is elderly purposive sampling with a sample of 26 respondents. Collecting data using questionnaires and MMSE test Spearman Rank. Results: 22 respondents have high levels of vitamin D adequacy good category, 21 respondents rate of dementia in both categories. Spearman Rank test results demonstrate the value of sig. (2-tailed) 0487 (p> 0.05), means no relationship between the adequacy of vitamin D intake with the incidence of dementia in the elderly in Telogosuryo Rw 02, Lowokwaru Malang. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study showed that vitamin D is not significant and dementia but many other factors that can influence the occurrence of dementia in Telogosuryo Rw 02, Lowokwaru Malang..
