- Self-esteem is one’s major capital to reach success in life. One of factors that affects self-esteem development in adolescents is family interaction. Family interaction can be developed by strong emotional attachment between parent and children called parental attachment. The pattern of parental attachment is reflected in interpersonal relationship of every development stage of individuals. This research was conducted to examine the influence of parental attachment on adolescents’ self-esteem. This research employed a quantitative correlational approach, which obtained data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The result of this research showed that the influence of parental attachment on adolescents’ self-esteem was at significance level p = 0.000 (0.000 < 0.01) and correlational coefficient r = 0.395. Therefore, this research confirmed the existence of significant influence of parental attachment and adolescents’ selfesteem. The results of the effective contribution of influence of parental attachment to Self-esteem in adolescents amounted to 15.6%.
