  • Background: Diabetes mellitus is characterized by insulin resistance, that can followed by metabolic disorder characterized by the production and removal of plasma lipoproteins. Hyperglycemia causes LDL to undergo more rapid oxidation. Thus, LDL levels increase in the blood because LDL can’t interact with the receptors in the liver and adipose tissue. Medicine made from medicinal plants are believed safer than chemical drugs. The combination ethanolic leaves extract of Mangifera indica L. var. arumanis and Syzygium polyanthum as antidiabetic and antihypercholesterolemic activity decrease the elevated LDL levels in plasma. Goal: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the combination ethanolic leaves extract Mangifera indica L. var. arumanis and Syzygium polyanthum activity on LDL levels in diabetic Rattus norvegicus. Method: The study used the post test only control group design method with using 36 Rattus norvegicus which is then divided into 6 groups ie, health control, positive control, negative control, and 3 treatment groups. This research was conducted for 30 days. Measurement of LDL levels was using LDL-Cholesterol plus 2nd generation by Homogeneous enzymatic colorimetric assay (CHOD-PAP) test. The data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA method and then data processing using SPSS (statisctic program for social science) 21.0 for windows Result and Conclusion: The result showed that the combination ethanolic leaves extract of Mangifera indica L. Var. arumanis and Syzygium polyanthum had symptoms of decreased the elevated LDL levels in diabetic Rattus norvegicus with doses variation are (84 mg/200gBB : 360 mg/200gBB), (42 mg/200gBB : 360 mg/gBB), and (42 mg/200gBB : 720 mg/200gBB). The most can lower LDL levels are descriptively which dose variation is (84 mg/200gBB : 360 mg/200gBB).
